Rare silver object from the collection of Kaiser Wilhelm II.
This antique silver toast rack is an extraordinary testament to the courtly table culture of the Imperial era. This rare piece comes from the personal collection of Kaiser Wilhelm II. and was presumably used at state banquets of the Imperial House. Particularly noteworthy is the engraved "WR" monogram, which impressively documents its connection to the German Imperial House.
Weighing 318 grams and dating back to 1903, this object combines historical significance, high-quality craftsmanship, and imperial provenance. It was created by the renowned court jeweler H.J. Wilm, one of Germany's most important silversmiths and jewelry houses.
H.J. Wilm – Court Jeweler to the Imperial House
The long-established jewelry house Wilm, founded in 1767, is among the oldest and most respected companies in its field. For generations, the name Wilm has stood for exclusive silverware, high-quality jewelry, and artistic works for the nobility, the court, and the upper bourgeoisie.
The company gained particular fame for its celebrated Wilm silver, the exceptional quality of which is still appreciated today. Furthermore, the workshop produced exclusive annual collections of jewelry and silver objects and was one of the preferred suppliers to the German Imperial House.
Historical Significance and Provenance
An outstanding figure in the company's history was Hermann Julius Wilm (1812–1907), a third-generation jeweler. Among his most famous works is the celebrated silver model of the "Victory" from 1887, which was presented to the Imperial couple Wilhelm I. on the occasion of their anniversary.
Until 1945, the company’s traditional headquarters were located on the grand boulevard Unter den Linden in Berlin. After the Second World War, the company relocated to Hamburg, where the brand's long history was continued.
An extraordinary collector's item from the Imperial era
This antique silver toast rack unites the history of the German Imperial House with the masterful craftsmanship of one of Germany's most renowned court jewelers. For collectors of Imperial memorabilia, historical silver objects, German Empire antiques, and high-quality Wilm silver, this piece represents a rare opportunity to acquire an authentic relic from the era of Kaiser Wilhelm II.
