Kaiser Wilhelm II. – Originale & historische Sammlerstücke aus dem deutschen Kaiserhaus

Friedrich Perlberg: Jerusalem‑Aquarell zur Orientreise des Kaiserpaares – Historisches Gemälde

Paintings from the German Imperial House convey an impressive picture of the representative world of Emperor Wilhelm II. They show him in magnificent portraits that underline his role as supreme warlord and monarch, as well as his family in carefully staged depictions of courtly culture. Particularly noteworthy are the maritime scenes with the yacht Hohenzollern, which portray the Emperor as the "Sailor Emperor" and make the maritime ambition of the Empire visible. The paintings of the Palestine journey in 1898 also play a central role: they document the festive reception in Haifa and the visit to Jerusalem, combining religious symbolism with a political message. These works reflect the political legitimation, personal self-portrayal, and cultural ambitions of the German Empire and are today valuable testimonies to the visual culture of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
