Photos of Princess Viktoria Luise – The last imperial daughter in pictures

The photographs of Princess Victoria Louise of Prussia (1892–1980) depict the only daughter of Kaiser Wilhelm II and Empress Auguste Victoria in her role as a symbol of the German nobility. As Duchess of Brunswick-Lüneburg, through her marriage to Prince Ernst August of Hanover in 1913, she became a bridge-builder between the Houses of Hohenzollern and Welf. The images document her in magnificent court gowns, at public appearances, with her family, and in uniform as regimental commander of the "Death's Head Hussars."

After the end of the monarchy, Viktoria Luise became involved in charitable projects and published several memoirs, the authorship of which is disputed. Her photographs from the Nazi era show her close to the party leadership, which was later criticized. She remained active in preserving traditions well into old age and died in Hanover in 1980.
