Photos of Prince Eitel Friedrich – The tradition-conscious son of the emperor in pictures

The photographs of Prince Eitel Friedrich of Prussia (1883–1942) depict the second eldest son of Kaiser Wilhelm II and Empress Auguste Victoria at various stages of his life: as an officer, representative of the imperial family, and later as a monarchist activist in the Weimar Republic. Particularly striking are images from the First World War, in which he served at the front as commander of the 1st Guards Foot Regiment and later of the 1st Guards Division.

After the war, Eitel Friedrich was active in the Stahlhelm League and the Sempertalis League , but remained a staunch opponent of National Socialism. His marriage to Duchess Sophie Charlotte of Oldenburg remained childless and ended in divorce in 1926. Despite his achievements, the Nazi regime denied him an honorary military burial in 1942.
