This silver gift frame by Kaiser Wilhelm II is hallmarked on the underside with 835 silver and the manufacturer's mark Schmidt. It also bears the hallmark "crescent moon – crown – 835 – WTB," which is clearly attributable to the renowned silversmith Wilhelm Binder, Schwäbisch Gmünd. Binder, founded in 1869, was not a court jeweler but a highly respected producer of high-quality silver goods in the German Empire.

The frame is of exceptionally high quality workmanship. On the back, noble woods were used as the frame's backing. At the top edge is an imperial crown, whose cross decoratively extends beyond the frame.

Within the frame is an albumen photograph of Kaiser Wilhelm II, showing the monarch in a World War I uniform. Although the photo dates from the Imperial era, it was personally signed and gifted by the Kaiser on September 29, 1931, in Doorn – thus already during his exile after his abdication. This gift is a rare relic from a lost epoch of the German Empire.

The frame is in very good condition.

Dimensions: approx. 22 × 28 cm
