Antique silver plate, Kaiser Wilhelm II, from the SMY Hohenzollern, Otto Hintze, Imperial era
This antique silver plate, with a diameter of 14.2 cm and a silver purity of 800, is an impressive testament to the sophisticated table culture of the Imperial era. Crafted by the renowned Berlin jeweler Otto Hintze, the piece bears the German silver hallmark "crescent and crown," which stands for the verified authenticity and quality of German silverware.
Imperial provenance and maritime history
The finely executed engraving "Kaiser Wilhelm II – Kiel" as well as the central monogram "W" beneath the Imperial crown point directly to the era of Kaiser Wilhelm II and the significant naval and port city of Kiel. Unlike personal gifts or souvenirs, this plate was part of the official dinnerware of the SMY Hohenzollern II, the famous Imperial state yacht, which was regularly stationed in Kiel and served numerous representative occasions.
Historical silver object from the German Empire
Such objects reflect the material culture of the German Empire, the high stylistic standards of the imperial court, and the symbolic significance of imperial representation. The plate is therefore much more than a functional object; it documents the refined table manners of the Imperial era and the exclusive daily life on board the state yacht.
The antique silver plate is in good condition. Light signs of wear testify to its actual use and underscore the authenticity of this historical piece.
Rare collector's item for enthusiasts of the Imperial era and maritime history
