KPM Salt Cellar from the S.M.Y. Hohenzollern, Kaiser Wilhelm II, KPM Berlin, 1911

Rare KPM salt cellar from the imperial state yacht S.M.Y. Hohenzollern

This extraordinary antique salt cellar made of KPM porcelain originates from the legendary S.M.Y. Hohenzollern, the prestigious state yacht of Kaiser Wilhelm II, and is dated to 1911. As part of the exclusive shipboard service, it is today among the most sought-after objects of imperial table culture, German naval history, and historical KPM porcelain.

Crafted from high-quality white glazed porcelain, this rare piece embodies the elegance and representational standards of the imperial court at the beginning of the 20th century.

Imperial provenance and maritime history

On the upper rim, there is the Imperial Standard above a ribbon inscribed with "S.M.Y. Hohenzollern". The state yacht served from 1893 to 1918 as the official representational vessel of the Imperial Navy and was the setting for numerous political and diplomatic encounters.

The exclusive porcelain service was used exclusively during the personal presence of Kaiser Wilhelm II on board. Original pieces of this service are rarely preserved today and are predominantly found in significant collections or museum holdings.

Authentic KPM marks and excellent condition

The underside bears the characteristic underglaze blue scepter mark of the Royal Porcelain Manufactory Berlin (KPM) as well as the red imperial orb mark, both with corresponding dating. These marks confirm the origin and authenticity of the piece.

Measuring approximately 9 x 3.5 cm, the salt cellar possesses an elegant and balanced form. It is in very good condition and impresses with its fine workmanship, high-quality porcelain, and extraordinary historical appeal.

Highly sought-after collector's item of the Imperial era

This rare KPM salt cellar from the S.M.Y. Hohenzollern combines imperial provenance, first-class Berlin porcelain art, and significant maritime history. For collectors of Imperial-era porcelain, KPM Berlin, Wilhelm II memorabilia, naval antiques, and historical objects of the German Empire, this piece represents an exceptional opportunity.

As an authentic relic from the immediate surroundings of Kaiser Wilhelm II, it impressively documents the high standard of courtly table culture aboard the imperial state yacht and is among the rare testimonies of German court and naval history.
