This original photograph of Empress Auguste Victoria, framed and with special provenance, is a unique memento from the personal surroundings of the last German imperial couple. Auguste Victoria (*1858 in Dolzig, †1921 in Huis Doorn) was German Empress and Queen of Prussia from 1888 to 1918 as the wife of Kaiser Wilhelm II.

The photograph comes from the studio of T.H. Voigt, likely taken around 1913, and shows the Empress in a dignified pose. The signature below the portrait is probably printed. The photo measures approx. 10.5 × 16 cm and is set in a decorative frame of approx. 32.5 × 25 cm.

Particularly noteworthy is the passe-partout, which is printed with the date April 19, 1921 – the day of the Empress's funeral. Even more interesting is the reverse side: it bears a date of May 26, 1921 and refers to the picture's function as a gift from the Kaiser to the funeral guests. It is probably the original accompanying letter that was enclosed with the photo. In this form – as a memorial gift for the funeral – the object is not yet documented and is therefore considered unique.

The frame is well preserved, the back shows some age-related stains. Overall, this is a highly significant piece of memorabilia with a direct connection to the imperial family, to the mourning culture of the monarchy, and to the last phase of Wilhelm II's life in exile.
