Antique Cadinen Plate Emperor Wilhelm II & Empress Hermine, Double Monogram W and H under Crown

Rare double monogram of the last imperial couple

This antique Cadinen plate bears the gilded monograms “W” under an imperial crown for Emperor Wilhelm II and “H” under a crown for Empress Hermine. The combination of both monograms makes this piece particularly interesting, as it refers to the last imperial couple in German history.

Since Wilhelm II and Hermine did not marry until 1922, the plate was likely produced after this time. It thus belongs to the memorabilia from the former Emperor’s late period of exile.

Emperor Wilhelm II and Empress Hermine

Wilhelm II (1859–1941) was the last German Emperor and King of Prussia. He married his second wife, Hermine Reuss of Greiz (1887–1947), four years after his abdication in his Dutch exile at House Doorn. Among monarchist circles, Hermine was frequently referred to as “Empress Hermine” and remained Wilhelm II’s closest companion until his death.

Typical Cadinen Red with gold decoration

The plate is presented in the characteristic Cadinen red, which is among the best-known features of the Cadinen manufactory. Both crowned monograms are executed in gold and framed by a fine gold rim. The elegant coloring gives the piece a special aura and makes it a decorative testimony to Hohenzollern history.

  • Diameter: approx. 11.5 cm

Antique Cadinen porcelain for Hohenzollern collectors

The plate unites the history of Emperor Wilhelm II and Empress Hermine in a single object. Due to its rare double monogram, it possesses special historical significance and represents an attractive enrichment for collections of Cadinen porcelain, Hohenzollern memorabilia, and objects from the German Empire. Pieces with a direct connection to the imperial couple are particularly sought after by collectors and historians alike today.
